Overview

  • No robotics experience is necessary to join!
  • Our team builds an industrial robot from the ground up
  • Learn engineering, electronics, and programming from real-world professionals and student leaders
  • We are led by student officers and adult mentors
  • Our goal is to make STEM fun for everyone!
  • We compete in the global FIRSTĀ® Robotics Competition
    • Thousands of teams around the world are given eight weeks to build a robot for the yearly challenge
    • We have to design and fabricate the robot all ourselves, although we do use some over-the-shelf parts
    • Human players drive the robot on a basketball court-sized playing field against other teams
    • We start with two local events and advance to the Chesapeake District Championship based on ranking
